Guidance and Support through Labor and Delivery, and Adjusting to a New Baby
Prenatal Preparation
Get ready for baby by learning about the process of birth, gear up for breastfeeding, and learn how the strong and sympathetic touch of a doula enhances your natural ability to bear and rear children.Coaching during Labor and Delivery
Labor can get overwhelming, and having a doula present helps everyone stay calm and focused on the important task of bringing a new soul into the world.
Postpartum Support
Adding a baby to the family can be stressful and exhausting. Having a expert in the home lets mom focus on getting a bit of rest, relieve her from extra responsibilities for a few hours a day, and help with breastfeeding.
What is a Doula?
Doulas are trained professionals who provide physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother and her partner before, during, and after childbirth.
How can a Doula help me?
A doula adds a gentle, human touch to the sometimes clinical birth experience. The work they do greatly increases the chances of a healthy outcome at birth, and lasting positive memories about the birth event and the next few critical weeks.
What is The Process of working with a Birth Doula Like?
Hiring a birth doula adds an important layer of trained professionals to your labor and delivery team. Deciding which doula to hire is based on your preferences, personality, and the personality of the doula. Meeting with a doula face-to-face will tell you whether you click or not.
1. I meet with you and your partner in your home to get to know you better and what hopes and dreams you have for this momentous and memorable event.
2. We meet together two more times before the birth
3. When labor begins, I join you wherever you are at and stay with you throughout labor.
4. I meet with you at your home a few days after you come home from the hospital to make sure you are settling into life with a newborn.
What is The Process of working with a Postpartum Doula Like?
The media portrays new mothers as if they’ve had lots of rest and aren’t in any pain. Not true! The first week or two after delivery are always exhausting. Plan ahead and contact me before the baby is born.
1. Several weeks before the due date, I meet with you and your partner in your home to get to know you better and create a plan based on what and how much help you anticipate needing after baby is born.
2. I meet you briefly at the hospital or wherever you’ve had the baby shortly after birth.
3. Once you are home, I go to your home per the plan we worked out together.
4. Talk to me about getting more help.

TESTIMONIALS
“Megelyn is one of the most open-hearted, honest, dedicated and caring people I know. She is an excellent listener who puts you at ease and encourages your decisions. Her organization, aptitudes, intuition. and wisdom make her invaluable in the stressful and overwhelming birthing experience. She works hard and has a lot of love and compassion. I only wish I had the opportunity to have her as a doula!”
Bryony“Megelyn has a kind heart and is always looking for ways to help others. I’ve always felt comfortable talking to her. She is a great listener.”
Jenifer“Megelyn is one of the hardest working people I know. She is trustworthy, and I value her ideas and advice, which is always honest, even when it is a difficult thing to say. Megelyn cares deeply, and once committed to something, she is committed all the way. Her thoughtfulness and compassion are deep and insightful. Megelyn pays attention to not only what people like, but to also what they need, and then goes out of her way to simply and humbly provide that to others. She listens with a keen and insightful listening, that goes beyond hearing, and into understanding, and then acts upon that understanding. As a mother of five children, Megelyn understands.”
